Huntsville has been awarded the OFSAA 2012 Nordic Championships to be held Feb 22-24, 2012. This leads up to the start of the Ontario Parasport Winter Games 2012.
The venues for the Championships include Arrowhead Nordic Centre at Arrowhead Provincial Park and downtown Huntsville. Ontario Parks is in the process of building an additional 100 vehicle parking facility at Arrowhead starting this spring. The Town of Huntsville is the presenting sponsor of OFSAA 2012.
Thursday the distance races will take place at Arrowhead.
Friday the team sprints have been scheduled for the downtown core of Huntsville. The town has committed bringing snow to the streets and closing Main St and the side streets King and West into the new Park. The staging area will happen in River Mill park along the Muskoka River.
The Friday afternoon starts Winter Assembly were the public can ski, kicksled and skijore on the Main St. The significance of delivering an event in this new venue will raise the profile of the sport for our local community.
The community of Huntsville is excited about the opportunity to hosting OFSAA and the Ontario ParaSport Winter Games 2012.

Congratulations to the following SOD skiers who will be representing Ontario at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 19th to 27th.
